LATIN AMERICAN ALLIANCE FOR EQUITY IN HEALTH
(GEGA PROJECTS IN CHILE, ECUADOR, PERU AND GUATEMALA)

THEME: Health Equity - Research to Action
Cuenca, Ecuador 23rd - 24th July 2005

GEGA is calling for participants to attend a short course (IN SPANISH) designed to build capacity for pro-equity policy development and evidence based action.

Goal: To support the development of pro-equity projects especially at national and local level and to encourage sharing of information and experiences among participants, and opportunities to meet with researchers and activists working in health equity.

Objectives:

  • Introduce workshop participants to a strategic approach to reducing inequities in health
  • Introducing participants to a stepwise approach to measuring inequities using routine/secondary data available in all countries.
  • To develop capacity in the use of information for pro-equity advocacy and action
  • Presenting the experience of 4 Latin American countries in applying the GEGA approach.
  • Building contacts and facilitating exchange of experience in support of expanding the Latin American Alliance for Equity in Health.

Eligibility for the course: Institutions and civil society organizations involved in or pursuing Health Equity focused work/activities.

Registration Fee: Free

Applicants must submit the completed registration form to wflores@worldwidedialup.net by 17th June 2005.

We encourage participation of two applicants per institution/group in order to support long term planning.

Early application is encouraged, as space is limited.

Please note that workshop will be held in Spanish language. Translation will not be available.
