Global Forum for Health Research Promoting research to improve the health of poor people. The Global Forum for Health Research is an international foundation managed by a Foundation Council, representing the partners of the Global Forum, assisted by a Strategic and Technical Advisory Committee. Less than 10% of the global spending on health research (US$56 billion per year in 1992) is devoted to diseases or conditions that account for 90% of the global disease burden. The human and economic costs of such misallocation of resources are enormous. The central objective of the Global Forum for Health Research is to help correct the 10/90 gap and focus research efforts on the health problems of the poor by improving the allocation of research funds and by facilitating collaboration among partners in both the public and private sectors.
